The Evolutionary Anthropology program at Washington State University's Anthropology Department provides extensive education in evolutionary perspectives on human behavior, culture, and biology. Our professors produce significant research across key disciplines, encompassing cultural evolution, human behavioral ecology, biological anthropology, evolutionary psychology, medical evolution studies, and healthcare anthropology. Our academic approach bridges microscopic analysis with complex systemic models, combining detailed ethnographic work with cross-cultural studies, all unified through a multidisciplinary theoretical foundation that emphasizes practical applications. Professors conduct research at international field locations including Argentina, Bolivia, the Central African Republic, Dominica, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Honduras, Tanzania, and the U.S., offering exceptional fieldwork possibilities for students. We educate graduate students through our worldwide, cross-disciplinary, and cooperative approach. Faculty members' national and global partnerships enable comparative studies and diverse student experiences. Consequently, numerous graduate students gain early exposure to multiple research sites and labs. Most students engage in research and teaching activities starting their first term. We support students in designing customized academic paths aligned with their thesis work and professional aspirations. Due to Evolutionary Anthropology's interdisciplinary character, this frequently includes taking courses in related fields like evolutionary biology, economics, veterinary global health, and medical school programs.
