Ceramics courses focus mainly on sculptural forms while also covering functional pottery techniques. This specialization is open to both BA and BFA students.
You'll master fundamental skills like clay construction, glazing, and firing, but the core objective is using ceramic mediums creatively to convey concepts. As part of WSU Pullman's fire arts program, you'll enjoy access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art facilities.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is ideal for students aiming for professional art careers or advanced graduate studies.
Intensive specialization in one of eight focus areas combines with faculty guidance and interactions with visiting artists. Every semester includes meetings with WSU professors to review your progress, refine concepts, and gain valuable critiques.
BFA candidates culminate their studies with a solo thesis exhibition during their final semester. With support from two faculty advisors, you'll prepare a showcase of your academic work. This exhibition also allows for more ambitious projects and portfolio development for graduate applications.
