The interdisciplinary approach of English studies allows students to enroll in courses across diverse programs like Women's and Gender Studies, Science & Technology Studies, Africana Studies, and History. This multidisciplinary perspective offers students a broader understanding of English studies. They then utilize this knowledge to conduct independent research through either a thesis or capstone project. Working closely with our distinguished faculty, students tailor their thesis or capstone projects to align with their specific professional and academic aspirations. Our program cultivates essential skills in critical reading, writing, research, and analysis, which extend beyond the MA degree, leading graduates into diverse fields such as business, law, technology, marketing, design, education, and technical writing. Recently, our alumni have pursued three primary paths after graduation: entering PhD programs in literature or writing, teaching at high school or instructor levels, or securing writing-focused roles in technical documentation. The interdisciplinary structure of English studies empowers students to refine these fundamental skills while customizing their academic journey to match personal interests and career objectives.
