The Romance languages we offer (French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish) are used by hundreds of millions worldwide across every continent. Our Romance languages degree program allows students to focus on two of these languages simultaneously. Our courses are designed to build practical language skills while also exploring the rich history and culture of Romance-speaking regions.
At the graduate level, the Department of Romance Languages provides MA programs in French, Italian, Spanish, or a combined Romance Languages track, along with PhD options in Romance Languages or Spanish. Master's candidates can specialize in one language or blend two disciplines for a broader Romance Languages degree. Alongside their classes, MA students complete an intensive year-long research project under faculty guidance.
