The Smart and Sustainable Cities (SSC) program stands as a pioneering academic offering in the U.S. Expanding upon the foundational Public and Urban Affairs (PUA) curriculum, this major explores urban transformation across historical, spatial, and contextual dimensions. Participants will acquire comprehensive knowledge about eco-conscious urban planning and the integration of intelligent technologies with urban data analysis to address tomorrow's metropolitan challenges. The curriculum features two complementary pathways. The initial pathway emphasizes urban data analysis and policy formulation, equipping learners with modeling and data interpretation capabilities for examining city and regional networks through computational and quantitative approaches. The subsequent pathway concentrates on eco-friendly urban growth and metropolitan futures, where scholars investigate urban expansion patterns with particular focus on the interconnected nature of societal, financial, ecological, and technical elements and their temporal progression.
