The Epidemiology program is designed for students with robust clinical experience, usually physicians or doctoral-level practitioners, offering advanced training to cultivate their expertise as public health scientists or professionals. This track equips clinical research fellows and faculty with cross-disciplinary education and skills essential for careers in epidemiologic studies, clinical research, health services investigation, or healthcare management.

Each MPH student completes a 240-hour public health practicum customized to align with their specific goals and interests. Epidemiology students have recently undertaken practicums at institutions such as:

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Veterans Health Administration
as well as various state, county, and municipal health and social service organizations

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree
At least two years of relevant, post-undergraduate professional experience strongly preferred, but not required for admission. The minimum acceptable score on the paper-based TOEFL is 570, and for the Internet-based test, 88. Many programs, however, require a considerably higher level of proficiency. For IELTS, the minimum acceptable score will vary by program. In many cases, a score of at least 7.0 is desirable.
