The Special Education undergraduate program equips students to support individuals with disabilities and qualifies them for teaching certification. This interdisciplinary exceptional learning major offers three focus areas: High Incidence Disabilities (covering K-8 and/or 6-12) or Multiple and Severe Disabilities. Students can pair this major with complementary programs like Cognitive Studies, Child Studies, Child Development, Human and Organizational Development, or various Arts and Science disciplines. With its hands-on approach, the curriculum emphasizes practical experience, requiring direct engagement with people with disabilities in most professional courses. Starting from their first freshman semester, students gain exposure through observations and fieldwork across diverse community and school environments.
All candidates for admission must present transcripts of work completed in high school.
