The 4+1 program is open to Vanderbilt undergraduates currently pursuing majors in MHS or similar fields. Selected participants gain early registration privileges during their senior year to fulfill BA requirements while starting MA coursework. The master's program entails 30 credit hours, with up to 6 credits allocated for thesis work. Typically, 4+1 participants enroll in 3-6 graduate credits during their final undergraduate year. These students meet identical academic standards as traditional MA candidates.
Many 4+1 participants pursue research projects, service learning opportunities, or internships during the summer bridging their fourth and fifth years.
