By blending language acquisition with cultural studies and offering numerous experiential learning possibilities, this program prepares students for professional paths in education, commerce, or public service with Asian connections.

Students from diverse academic backgrounds, language proficiencies, and personal interests are welcome in this program.
The Global Studies degree delivers comprehensive education encompassing fundamental language competencies alongside crucial understanding of regional history, cultural practices, and political systems - all vital for today's internationally-focused careers.
Most Asian Studies participants complete part of their academic journey in China or Japan through Valparaiso University's curriculum. The university particularly recommends immersive study abroad experiences at China's Zhejiang University or Japan's Kansai Gaidai University, where students earn academic credit while gaining practical cultural immersion and advanced language practice.
Participants enjoy multiple avenues for applied intercultural education, including domestic or international internships, campus-based cultural programming, and engagement with the university's international student community.
