The Asian Studies focus area in the Interdisciplinary Studies major provides students with a multidisciplinary approach to exploring different facets of Asian cultures. Learners can design their academic path to specialize in either a specific element of Asian heritage or a particular geographic area within Asia.
For instance, students might delve into the artistic traditions and philosophical systems of diverse Asian communities, or alternatively, they could specialize in Chinese (or Indian or Japanese) culture, examining both historical and contemporary social structures, geographical influences, and political-economic evolution. To develop a robust academic plan that satisfies both personal interests and program requirements, students should collaborate closely with an advisor when designing their curriculum and choosing courses.
