Conservation and restoration ecology focuses on protecting, sustaining, and rehabilitating natural environments while improving biodiversity. This academic program equips students with ecological knowledge to sustain vibrant ecosystems and revive degraded landscapes including woodlands, prairies, wilderness areas, and pastures affected by misuse, abandonment, or catastrophic events. The curriculum provides comprehensive training in life sciences, earth sciences, chemical processes, and quantitative methods, explores wildlife and plant ecology, teaches methods for evaluating and rehabilitating habitats, and covers environmental governance.
