As a forest ecology and management student, you'll develop skills in applying scientific analysis and evidence-based approaches to oversee vital natural assets like woodlands and their resident wildlife.
Your initial year will include foundational mathematics and science classes, plus an overview of natural resource stewardship that explores conservation biology, environmental philosophy and economics, with particular attention to the Truckee River basin and Great Basin environment.
Advancing through the program, you'll deepen your understanding of conservation science while specializing in subjects such as woodland ecosystems, aquatic resource stewardship, dendrology, and fire ecology. The curriculum features frequent excursions to nearby sites, allowing you to implement classroom learning in real-world scenarios.
To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school. You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno.
Verification of having met the English requirement through one of the following options: TOEFL score 61+; IELTS (must be academic version) with a score of 6.0+; Duolingo English Exam score 95+; Cambridge score of B2+.
