The School of Rehabilitation Sciences & Technology provides a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program. This graduate program equips students to develop into evidence-based, patient-focused professionals, educators, and researchers capable of improving health outcomes, wellness, life satisfaction, and occupational engagement for individuals and communities. MSOT candidates participate in advanced coursework emphasizing theoretical foundations, research-informed practice, collaborative learning, technological applications, civic involvement, professional leadership, and clinical competencies. The curriculum includes both core requirements and specialized electives, allowing students to pursue additional certification pathways while earning their degree. Program completers qualify to sit for the national occupational therapy licensure examination administered by the NBCOT.

Qualification Requirements

An undergraduate degree completed by the end of the Spring semester of the year prior to beginning the OT Program, from an accredited institution, with an overall cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
Completed OTCAS application. (UWM Pre-OT Students should complete the Panthera application.)
Three letters of recommendation: One letter must be from an academic source and one from a clinical/health-related source. The third letter can be either from an academic or clinical/health-related source. All three letters must use the OTCAS form.
Reasons Statement or Personal Essay: This is the same as the OTCAS essay. Address why you selected occupational therapy as a career and how an occupational therapy degree relates to your immediate and long-term professional goals.

You must have attended this institution for at least one year and the degree was earned at an institution in the United States, and you have lived and worked continuously in the U.S since earning the degree. Cambridge English: Advanced / Cambridge English Proficiency C1 level or higher. TOEFL IBT (not Home Edition) - 79 120, IELTS - 6.5 9.0.
