The Department of Teaching and Learning provides graduate studies in curriculum and instruction, featuring three specialization options: Subject Area, Instructional Level Area, and Cross-Curricular Area. Additionally, the department collaborates with Administrative Leadership to offer a Specialist Certificate Program focused on reading. As part of the Urban Education PhD program, doctoral concentrations are available in both Curriculum and Instruction and Mathematics Education.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant must meet Graduate School requirements to be considered for admission to the program. Applicants must also complete the reason statement in the application. Applicants may be admitted with specific program-defined course deficiencies provided that the deficiencies amount to no more than 6 credits. The student is expected to satisfy deficiency requirements within three enrolled semesters. The deficiencies are monitored by the Graduate School and the individual graduate program unit. No course credits earned in making up deficiencies may be counted as program credits required for the degree. You must have attended this institution for at least one year and the degree was earned at an institution in the United States, and you have lived and worked continuously in the U.S since earning the degree. Cambridge English: Advanced / Cambridge English Proficiency C1 level or higher. TOEFL IBT (not Home Edition) - 79 120, IELTS - 6.5 9.0.
