The Certificate in Assistive Technology and Accessible Design is a cross-disciplinary program created to address the growing need for professionals in assistive technology and accessible design. This initiative is a joint effort between the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and Technology, the Communication Sciences and Disorders program within the College of Health Professions and Sciences, and the Department of Teaching and Learning in the School of Education, who collectively oversee curriculum development and administration. The program structure builds from foundational disability and technology concepts through field overviews, evaluation methods, practical applications, and leadership training. Earning this certificate equips students to pursue state and national certifications as Assistive Technology Specialists, Rehabilitation Engineering Technologists, or Low Vision Specialists.
