The University of Washington's Department of Laboratory Medicine serves as the leading educational and research hub for fundamental and clinical laboratory sciences across the WWAMI region (encompassing Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho). Their Master of Science in Laboratory Medicine equips graduates for leadership roles in clinical labs, research facilities, and diagnostic or pharmaceutical companies. The program mandates a minimum of 38 credits, including nine thesis credits, for completion. While full-time medical lab professionals usually finish in two years, those with bachelor's degrees in chemistry, microbiology, or biology (without medical lab experience) may require three years to graduate.
