The Department of Applied Science is a multidisciplinary graduate program primarily centered on doctoral studies, while also providing select Master of Science opportunities. Students can tailor both degree paths to specialize in various physical and natural science concentrations. Each graduate works closely with their advisory committee to design a personalized academic plan aligned with their career aspirations. Our diverse student body brings varied academic backgrounds and professional objectives to the program. New graduate students engage in coursework, faculty mentorship, peer collaboration, and seminar participation as integral parts of their educational journey. The curriculum's coursework element offers significant flexibility, with each student's plan developed in consultation with their faculty advisory team.
To earn their degree, students must complete either: 1) 30 graduate credit hours plus an original thesis (approved by their committee and defended orally), or 2) 32 graduate credit hours including Applied Science 710 Research Project, as determined by the Applied Science Faculty.
