The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Training Program, provided through the Department of Biological Sciences, is an intensive one-year certificate program. It prepares students to earn both a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License granted by the state's Department of Public Health. This 55-week program combines hands-on training, with students dedicating 32 weekly hours at partner hospital sites, alongside 8 hours of virtual coursework.
