The Department of Educational Psychology trains future psychologists, counselors, researchers, and education specialists to enhance learning, research, and psychological well-being in urban communities. Our goal is to develop professionals who: 1) possess fundamental knowledge of biological, psychological, and social influences on behavior, 2) demonstrate cultural awareness and understanding of urban developmental contexts and systemic approaches, 3) develop practical research expertise in their specialization, and 4) exhibit competency in their chosen field's knowledge, skills, and ethical principles.
Graduate programs include Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Educational Psychology, with four focus areas: cognitive and developmental sciences, educational statistics and measurement, school psychology, and counseling psychology (covering both school counseling and clinical mental health counseling). Additionally, the Department provides certification programs for school psychologist and school counselor qualifications.
