Our program delves into both traditional and modern approaches to fine art printmaking. Students learn to consider not just the visual content, but also how their work conveys meaning through its composition and display.
Print & Narrative Forms offers innovative classes that foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and team-based research. The department features fully equipped studios supporting various techniques including intaglio, lithography, monotype, collagraph, relief printing, letterpress, screenprinting, photographic processes, digital printing, artist books, and hybrid print/non-print methods. The curriculum balances time-honored practices with experimental approaches.
We urge all students to expand their artistic development by participating in conferences and external workshops, engaging in print exchanges with other institutions, and showcasing their work both on campus and beyond. Graduates leave prepared for advanced study, careers as independent artists or illustrators, or specialized printer training programs. Our department has partnered with the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) to co-host the Southern Graphics Council International Conference.
