Comparative Ethnic Studies examines social identity and power structures. This program enables students to investigate varied racial and ethnic identities in modern society and how these influence national policies and cultural trends. Students can pursue either an undergraduate submajor via the Committee Interdisciplinary Major or a certificate in comparative ethnic studies.
The Comparative Ethnic Studies submajor lets students analyze social identity and power through interdisciplinary approaches. Courses within the program and across various departments examine race, ethnicity, gender, class, and sexuality from comparative perspectives. While maintaining the certificate program's interdisciplinary nature, the submajor offers deeper exploration, allowing students to choose predefined tracks or design personalized programs with guidance from a Comparative Ethnic Studies advisor.
