The Motor Control and Behavior graduate program offers in-depth exploration of the psychological and neurological principles behind movement regulation, skill acquisition, developmental progression, and movement disorders. This curriculum cultivates skilled independent researchers by delivering comprehensive training in motor performance, while examining the theoretical frameworks that shape behavioral control, skill development, and learning processes. Participants may specialize in control mechanisms, learning theories, or developmental aspects, or opt for a multidisciplinary approach to motor behavior studies. Close mentorship with faculty advisors occurs through both structured and informal learning environments. As part of the Kinesiology MS program, this specialization serves two key purposes: 1) initiating graduate students into Motor Control and Behavior studies encompassing neural movement regulation, skill learning, and developmental processes, and 2) equipping learners for doctoral-level research advancement.
