The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences provides one of the nation's most extensive graduate programs in its field. Faculty expertise and research funding cover a wide spectrum of specialties, from fundamental biological investigations using both in vivo and in vitro approaches to computational biology and analytical tools for dairy farm operations. These diverse research areas share a unifying goal: solving real-world challenges in animal agriculture.
Our graduate student body includes Wisconsin residents, out-of-state domestic students, and international scholars from various nations. This rich diversity fosters global perspectives in research, education, outreach, and cross-cultural exchange. Alumni pursue careers in academia, veterinary/medical programs, food industry research, government and corporate laboratories, as well as scientific leadership roles across multiple sectors.
