The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences provides one of the nation's most extensive graduate programs in this field. Faculty research spans a wide spectrum, from investigating biological mechanisms through in vivo and in vitro studies to utilizing bioinformatics and data analysis for both fundamental biological research and creating dairy farm management tools. These diverse research efforts share a unifying goal: tackling real-world challenges in animal agriculture.

Our graduate student body includes both Wisconsin residents and out-of-state domestic students, along with international scholars from various nations. This blend of backgrounds enriches our research, teaching, outreach, and cross-cultural exchange. Alumni pursue careers in academia, veterinary/medical schools, food/feed industry research, government/international agency labs, corporate research, and scientific leadership roles across multiple sectors.
