The Mead Witter School of Music aims to deliver a comprehensive educational experience for both undergraduate and graduate students, fostering professional growth, artistic innovation, and academic excellence while encouraging individuals to reach their highest capabilities. It strives to create an atmosphere that nurtures artistic expression, sparks intellectual exploration, and develops analytical skills, while also enriching the university, broader community, and music field through performances, original works, research, teaching initiatives, and public programs.
The school aligns its aspirations with the University of Wisconsin-Madison's broader mission: to create a learning environment where educators and learners can explore, critically assess, preserve, and share knowledge, ethical principles, and cultural heritage that will benefit current and future societies while enhancing overall wellbeing.
