The Master of Arts program in Russian, East European, and Central Asian studies offers cross-disciplinary regional education for professionals and leaders in various fields including business, government, journalism, law, and military service. This curriculum aims to cultivate comprehensive knowledge about the cultural, political, economic, social, and historical influences that have shaped Eurasian, Russian, and Central/Eastern European societies. Students develop advanced proficiency in regional languages for professional and research purposes, along with methodological skills from multiple disciplines to enhance their regional expertise and research capabilities. The program combines regional studies with intensive language instruction.
While typically spanning three semesters, dedicated students with prior language experience can complete the MA in just 12 months through accelerated summer coursework. Each student receives personalized guidance from a faculty advisor to create a cohesive, interdisciplinary academic plan tailored to their goals.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
