The Master of Arts program in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies embraces an interdisciplinary approach. Participants enroll in classes spanning multiple departments, such as anthropology, art history, business, comparative literature, geography, journalism, law, linguistics, music, history, political science, religious studies, and sociology. These courses qualify toward the REEES MA degree as long as regional content comprises at least one-third of the curriculum.
This vibrant interdisciplinary graduate program allows students to investigate Russian, East European, and Eurasian topics through diverse academic disciplines at the University of Oregon, ranging from anthropology and art history to political science and religious studies.

To earn the MA in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, students must complete 40 graded graduate credits (minimum B- grade) plus 9 thesis credits (graded Pass/No Pass), totaling 49 credits. Language requirement courses don't count toward this total. Typically completed in two years (six academic quarters), the program awards both a Master of Arts degree and a graduate certificate in Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies.
