As experts in occupational science, our faculty and graduate students investigate theories of human activity participation while performing research to grow the knowledge base that informs occupational therapy practice. The field of Occupational Science combines principles and methodologies from anatomy, biomechanics, movement science, neurobiology, psychology, and sociology to deepen our comprehension of how everyday activities influence health and quality of life. The Occupational Science specialization within the Kinesiology PhD program equips occupational therapy professionals to become researchers and educators capable of advancing knowledge about the connections between daily activities, physical health, and mental wellness. Students collaborate extensively with faculty mentors to conduct studies that push the boundaries of occupational therapy theory and human development across the lifespan.
