Students pursuing undergraduate degrees at the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work gain a comprehensive liberal arts education focused on social and behavioral sciences, equipping them to address human service challenges and social welfare issues as engaged citizens. The curriculum incorporates diverse social science disciplines, helping students examine social welfare through broader societal, economic, and political lenses. The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program develops foundational skills for entry-level professional practice.
The field of social work distinguishes itself through its systematic approach to human relationships, drawing on proven knowledge, ethical principles, and practical techniques for working with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Coursework provides theoretical frameworks for analyzing social issues and introduces professional intervention methods. Studies encompass specialized topics including elder care, child and family services, economic disadvantage, psychological wellbeing, intellectual disabilities, addiction, cultural diversity, justice systems, systemic discrimination, and advocacy for vulnerable groups facing social, economic, or environmental inequities.
Applicant must have high school record should demonstrate both rigor and breadth in the types of course work you pursue. A competitive academic record should show some of the most challenging advanced-level work offered at or through your school in as many areas as possible, while maintaining a strong GPA. The following chart shows the number of years that most admitted students studied in each subject area; English 4 years, Math 4 years, Social Studies 3-4 years, Science 3-4 years, Single Foreign Language 3-4 years and Additional Academic/Fine Arts 2 years. Applicant must have ACT score of 30 and overall SAT score of 1395.
