This program focuses on equipping school psychologists to become skilled consultants for teachers, parents, and educational institutions. In addition to consultation training, graduate students learn to implement impactful intervention strategies. The curriculum highlights a pupil services approach that supports both academic and psychological wellbeing for students across all developmental stages, from preschool to secondary education. The foundational knowledge encompasses professional school psychology, educational psychology, psychological principles, educational theory, social equity, and mental health practices. To deliver comprehensive psychological services in schools, graduates of the On-Campus School Psychology Program must also develop expertise in curriculum design, special education programs, and student support services.
Students earn their Master of Science in Education in school psychology upon completing the initial year of coursework. Those pursuing licensure as school psychologists must subsequently obtain the Educational Specialist degree. The School Psychology Program at UWL provides pathways to both academic credentials.
