Geographers explore the connections between people and their surroundings. For those interested in tackling critical environmental and social challenges like global warming, disaster response, demographic shifts, and worldwide integration, geography could be an ideal discipline. At UW-La Crosse's Geography Program, learners acquire hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools to address real-world environmental problems. They utilize industry-standard GIS applications, unmanned aerial vehicles, and advanced surveying instruments. Collaborative efforts between students and faculty help examine historical and current environmental and social patterns while formulating approaches for creating a more adaptable and eco-friendly tomorrow. The curriculum has brought participants into nearby neighborhoods and across continents - from analyzing pollution in regional marshlands to assessing global warming effects in the Himalayan region.
