At SAFS, you acquire expertise to push forward the field of fisheries and aquatic sciences. You'll complete your studies fully prepared for professional opportunities. The program teaches you how to: conceive, express, and execute innovative research tackling key challenges in your chosen specialty, share scientific knowledge clearly with fellow researchers and synthesize insights from multiple fields, build leadership capabilities through guiding, counseling, and teaching less experienced peers. To obtain a Master of Science in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences, students must complete at least 45 credits (27 from coursework and 18 for thesis work), produce a thesis, and pass a final defense examination. Typically, master's candidates in the School exceed the 45-credit minimum to fulfill all degree criteria, with most graduating within two to three years.
Students must have an earned bachelor's degree before starting their master's degree program in a degree that is appropriate for intended graduate work. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required for the most recent 60 semester or 90 quarter credits of study.
