Our Sport Management master's programs equip students for careers across the sports industry. Emphasizing the business aspects of athletics, graduate students develop essential competencies for thriving in professional sports organizations. The curriculum includes courses in marketing, event coordination, sports analytics, ethics, legal issues, sports communication, and strategic development. We encourage applications from diverse academic backgrounds for those passionate about sports, recreation, and physical fitness.
The On-Campus Sport Management master's follows a cohort model, with students completing five core courses and one elective in their first year. The second year features a semester-long internship (equivalent to six credit hours), the final core course (Strategic Management), and additional electives.
Before starting the program, you'll be assigned an academic advisor. Regular semester meetings are required for course registration and progress tracking. Discuss your career aspirations with your advisor to select electives that support your professional development. Important: The internship requires completion of all first-year core courses.
We recommend reviewing internship requirements during your first year to secure a placement matching your career objectives. Under exceptional circumstances, some students may receive approval for summer internships between their first and second years.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
Application deadline: December 01 for fall
