The Master of Public Health (MPH) program equips students with comprehensive academic training, hands-on experience, and interdisciplinary knowledge to tackle modern public health challenges. Starting in the 2020-2021 academic year, the MPH curriculum features six foundational courses completed collectively by all first-year students. Additionally, learners will take specialized courses aligned with their chosen concentration. The core curriculum emphasizes ethical considerations, health equity, global and community perspectives, effective communication, systems analysis, leadership development, and translating research into practice.
The MPH in Nutrition combines public health principles with nutritional science education, preparing graduates for roles as public health nutrition professionals across government agencies, healthcare organizations, academic settings, and private industry. This degree program includes required studies in nutrition science, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, and health policy. To earn the MPH degree, students must complete both a practical fieldwork component and an original research thesis.
Bachelor’s degree; may be in any field.
GPA: A cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater for the final 90 quarter credits or 60 semester hours completed is an expectation for the UW Graduate School.
International applicants whose native language is not English must also submit official scores from one of the exams listed: 580 Minimum on TOEFL pBT or 92 Minimum TOEFL iBT.
