The UC Berkeley Public Health Nutrition Program prepares present and upcoming leaders in food and nutrition research, policy, and practice to recognize and address contemporary and emerging public health nutrition issues.
This program equips students with essential competencies to advance scientific knowledge about public health nutrition concerns, develop sustainable food systems, champion impactful food policies, and design, execute, and assess initiatives that enhance community nutrition and wellbeing. We aim to cultivate professionals capable of addressing nutritional challenges and promoting dietary health at local, state, national, and international levels. The curriculum emphasizes fundamental public health competencies with specialized training in nutrition policy, epidemiology, food systems, alongside developing analytical reasoning, evaluation techniques, and leadership abilities.
Through strategic collaborations, students gain distinctive chances to complement their studies with practical experiences including employment opportunities, internships, educational workshops, speaker series, special events, as well as access to fellowships and financial support.
