The Master's Degree in Scandinavian Studies offers two academic tracks. Students can select between Scandinavian Languages and Literature or Scandinavian Area Studies. Both programs focus on achieving fluency in a chosen Nordic language (Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, or Swedish) while developing comprehensive understanding of Nordic literature and culture. The Scandinavian Area Studies track additionally demands extensive knowledge of history, social structures, political systems, film, and folk traditions, with specialization options including Baltic studies, film studies, historical research, folklore and mythology, political science, second language learning, or translation theory.
