For those primarily focused on language or literature studies, the University's various language departments may better suit your needs (including Asian Languages and Literature, French and Italian Studies, Spanish and Portuguese Studies, Scandinavian Studies, Slavic Languages and Literature, Classics, Germanics, and Near Eastern Languages and Civilization). The Jackson School provides the foundational courses, complemented by Japan-related classes in Political Science, History, Literature, Linguistics, Art, Art History, Architecture, Law, and Business.
