The doctoral program equips students with advanced research capabilities in materials processing, characterization, and property analysis across all material categories. This degree program progresses through three key phases, culminating in the Qualifying Exam, General Exam, and Dissertation Defense. While Ph.D. studies are tailored to each student, mandatory core coursework, credit hour thresholds, and research benchmarks must be fulfilled to obtain the degree.
An undergraduate or master's degree in materials science and engineering, or in a relevant field of study such as another engineering major, physics or chemistry, is required.
