The University of Washington's Anthropology Department focuses on three core anthropological disciplines that shape its faculty, programs, and coursework. While graduate students can enroll in classes across all subdisciplines (and other university departments), those applying to the Anthropology Department must select one specific program. Doctoral candidates in anthropology at UW concentrate on a single subfield, each with distinct requirements. The Archaeology Graduate Program equips students with methodological and theoretical knowledge in archaeology, fosters analytical skills, and teaches scientific approaches to studying archaeological materials. This program prepares graduates for professional archaeological work in diverse settings.
Applicants must have at least a BA/BS degree or equivalent. MA only applications are discouraged.
