Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies (GWSS), previously known as Women's Studies, is an innovative interdisciplinary discipline exploring societal and political dynamics influenced by gender, sexuality, and power structures. Our program adopts global and intersectional viewpoints, empowering students to critically assess and engage with matters of gender, sexuality, and social diversity across personal, historical, institutional, and systemic contexts. Courses examine literature, historical narratives, and lived experiences from both Global North and South regions, investigating how gender and sexuality interact with race, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, nationality, ability, cisgender advantage, and other power dimensions. GWSS is committed to fostering and highlighting diverse feminist intellectual traditions including women of color feminism, transfeminism, queer feminism, feminist science and technology research, among others. Consequently, GWSS academics come from varied scholarly traditions, pursuing research across humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and creative arts.
