The Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies provides five undergraduate options: two major programs, two minor programs, and a certification track. Every major and minor student takes an interdisciplinary foundation course, a research methodology class, and various thematic and theoretical courses spanning multiple College departments. Major students complete additional coursework and finalize their studies with an original research project guided through the senior capstone course.
Through Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, students acquire diverse analytical skills to examine societal concerns from interdisciplinary viewpoints incorporating anthropology, history, legal studies, literature, political science, psychology, and sociology. They gain proficiency in applying varied analytical approaches to effectively recognize, evaluate, and comprehend women's societal positions and how systems of inequality intersect with gender and sexual identity.
