The interdisciplinary Engineering Science program empowers students to design their own educational journey. At its heart, the program requires minors from two distinct departments, offering both diversity and adaptability. With its distinctive framework, Engineering Science enables students to stay ahead of technological advancements and societal shifts by exploring emerging fields. As UVA Engineering's sole interdisciplinary degree option, Engineering Science undergraduates can tailor their studies to align with personal interests or professional aspirations by pairing an engineering minor with another in mathematics, sciences, or a different engineering field. These dual minors, complemented by technical electives, let each learner craft a customized curriculum suited to their career objectives. The Engineering Science major uniquely positions students at the intersection of disciplines, where society's most pressing challenges often find solutions. This cross-disciplinary approach proves equally attractive to graduate programs and employers, with our alumni thriving in both academic and professional settings.
