Students pursuing Global Security and Justice (GSSJ) examine critical topics including security and conflict (such as warfare, mass atrocities, extremist violence, and digital threats), governance and boundaries (covering international regulations, global institutions, population movements, and modern slavery), along with worldwide human rights concerns (including incarceration, monitoring, and law enforcement). Our program emphasizes personalized mentorship, both academic and professional, to equip dedicated students with the tools to address security and justice challenges after their time at the University of Virginia.
