The Severe Disabilities program equips future educators to take on leadership roles in schools, focusing on students with significant (low incidence) disabilities from kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as young adults up to age 22. This specialization trains educators to support learners requiring highly structured, personalized teaching approaches. Participants will develop skills in creating tailored lesson plans, delivering adaptable instruction, maintaining productive classroom environments, managing individual behaviors, and applying research-backed interventions informed by data. Combining academic study with hands-on practice, the program offers real-world teaching experiences where candidates can apply specialized techniques learned in their coursework.
