The Exercise and Disease faculty perform cutting-edge research to enhance knowledge about how physical activity contributes to preventing chronic illnesses and improving health outcomes related to these conditions. Graduate programs in Exercise and Disease offer interdisciplinary, practical training through academic courses, guided research and teaching opportunities, and conclude with student-led research projects. Applicants must first gain admission to the Graduate School before being considered for the program by the Exercise and Disease faculty. While each student works closely with a faculty advisor, all participants engage collaboratively in the program. Graduates completing the MS-thesis program may pursue careers such as clinical exercise physiologist, research coordinator, health operations manager, or university instructor. Those earning a PhD can explore positions including university professor (tenure-track or research-focused), medical science liaison, academic program director, or institutional review board administrator.
