The Master of Science in Kinesiology equips graduate students to push forward the study of human movement through research-driven patient care and practical scientific applications. This program focuses on interdisciplinary education and investigation across kinesiology disciplines. Students can choose from three specialized tracks: clinical practice, research (thesis-based), and athletic performance enhancement.
Applied Physiology Track (Thesis required)
Ideal for future doctoral candidates, the Applied Physiology track provides strong foundations for pursuing PhD studies in kinesiology or related fields like biology, rehabilitation sciences, or physiology. Graduates also gain qualifications for careers in healthcare research or laboratory settings.
Clinical Exercise Physiology Track (Thesis Optional)
This CAAHEP-accredited program trains future clinical exercise physiologists for diverse work environments including rehabilitation centers, corporate wellness programs, and healthcare facilities serving both patients and healthy populations. Combining academic coursework with hands-on training, the curriculum covers essential healthcare competencies across cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, and other physiological systems.
Strength and Conditioning Track
Focusing on athletic performance, this concentration develops expertise in fitness assessment, program design, and management according to industry best practices. The 33-credit curriculum includes three field experiences totaling 600 supervised hours with NSCA-certified professionals, preparing students for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist examination.
