The Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) program offers comprehensive training through coursework and mentorship in clinical research and innovation, equipping students for careers in academic medicine, allied health sciences, and global health disciplines. Graduates emerge as skilled investigators and collaborators, well-positioned to secure external funding for their research initiatives. The MSCI curriculum covers essential theories, frameworks, skills, methodologies, and resources for conducting translational research that bridges laboratory discoveries with clinical applications and community health improvements.
MSCI students choose from three specialized concentrations:
Concentration 1 (Med into Grad) focuses on genetic factors in human disease, mechanism-driven clinical studies, and translational research from laboratory to patient care.
Concentration 2 (Clinician Scientist) centers on population health studies, healthcare systems research, and translating clinical findings into community health solutions.
Concentration 3 (Global Health Innovation and Technology) highlights design thinking, innovation strategies, and worldwide implementation of research breakthroughs.
The program facilitates mentored research projects and innovation capstones through partnerships with the University of Utah School of Medicine and its international collaborators.
