The MCEB program explores how intricate biological systems arise from life's basic building blocks: molecules, cells, and genes. Key disciplines within MCEB include molecular and cellular biology, developmental biology, genetics (both Mendelian and quantitative), evolutionary biology, biodiversity studies, biochemistry, neurobiology, and microbiology. Proximity to Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics departments, along with the Brain Institute and Center for Cell & Genome Science (CCGS), fosters dynamic interdisciplinary partnerships and educational experiences.

At least a 3.0 or higher undergraduate weighted mean GPA on a 4.0 scale. If the undergraduate GPA is below 3.0, a GPA will be calculated for the last two years attended if schooling was done at a foreign institution, and based upon the last 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) if the student attended a U.S. institution.
Transcripts (mark sheets, school records, grades) for all post-secondary schools attended. Official English translations must be provided if the transcripts are only in the native language.
