The Master of Science in Geosciences program provides specialized tracks in Geospatial Science and Paleontology. A Graduate Certificate in Geological Information Systems draws working professionals and interdisciplinary students seeking GIS expertise. Participants acquire hands-on research experience that bridges academic theory with practical applications, equipping them for either professional roles or advanced studies. Numerous students showcase their findings at industry conferences, with some publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The Bachelor's program delivers comprehensive Geosciences training through four focus areas: Geography, Geology and Environment, Geospatial Science, and Paleontology. Geospatial Science forms a core component across all specializations, leading to careers in diverse sectors including urban development, public health, anthropology, engineering, and government agencies. The Geology and Environment concentration utilizes geological principles to address environmental challenges stemming from both natural processes and human activities. Qualification Requirements

In addition to the requirements of the School of Graduate Studies, students applying for admission to graduate study in Geosciences must:

have a bachelor's degree in a geosciences (or related) discipline,
have a 3.0 overall grade point average (4.0 system) in undergraduate course work,
have three letters of recommendation submitted on their behalf from previous professors or employers,
submit a two-page letter that discusses career goals and specific academic and research interests, and
submit a resume.
All application materials must be sent to the ETSU School of Graduate Studies. The School of Graduate Studies will forward applications to the Department of Geosciences once the application is complete.
