The Spanish specialization offers focused instruction in examining and investigating Latin American and Peninsular literary works, cultural studies, and language teaching methods. The Spanish Literature track equips learners to analyze texts and cultural artifacts through multiple methodological and theoretical frameworks while developing research capabilities in the discipline. Participants will gain familiarity with both traditional and unconventional works from Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean through an interdisciplinary lens. The MA program cultivates competencies that prepare graduates for advanced humanities studies or various professional fields. Faculty members bring expertise across diverse domains, exploring national, transnational, and post-national viewpoints on subjects ranging from Hispanic cultural heritage and Afro-Caribbean musical traditions to indigenous literature, subaltern voices, environmental concerns, and queer theory.
